Making Our Own Natural Cleaners

We are so proud to announce that we are officially making our own cleaning products! If you’re feeling confused, we were making some before, but only as little experiments. And guess what? We’ve nailed down a few recipes that we feel really confident about and are so excited to add to our arsenal of amazing products.

The image above shows you the big 3 essential oils that we use when making our products.

Peppermint oil- smells AMAZINGLY fresh and delicious, has antibacterial properties, and is a natural pest deterrent.

Lemon oil- Smells like you just cut open a fresh lemon (who doesn’t love that smell?), it is anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral. Plus, it disinfects the air and can lift stains and brighten surfaces.

Tea Tree oil- The Godfather of all essential oils; it is anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral. It smells delicious and can be used to remove mold and mildew.

The great thing is, all of them are great for cleaning, but are also very low in Photo Sep 10, 11 17 04 AMtoxicity- meaning they are safe to use around children and pets and won’t harm you if you accidentally ingest some or get it on your skin.

The essential oils are used in combination with vinegar, castile soap, and baking soda for most of our products.

Vinegar is a “jack of all trades” type cleaner; it can be used on many different surfaces, mix with water, baking soda, essential oils, or just strait. It does have antibacterial qualities and is again, very low in toxicity.

Castile soap is a simple, vegetable-based soap that is eco-friendly and safe on the skin. It is a great laundry detergent, all purpose cleaner, personal beauty product, and is even safe for use in toothpaste. We use it in our toilet bowl cleaner, mixed with some peppermint oil to create a clean, fresh scent.

Baking soda possesses three of my favorite cleaner properties- it is nontoxic, multi-purpose, and cheap! Mix it with some vinegar, and you have a powerful fizzy drain cleaner. Make a little paste and you’ve got a sink scrubber.
